No matter how far away we are, when our family needs us, we will come to their aid... that is the power of blood. Adam Joan tells the story of a planter from Kottayam, who was shattered when tragedy hit him in Scotland just months after his marriage. After many years he comes back to the place to spend some time with his family, but destiny had planned another tragic turn in his path. It sets him on a journey that eventually leads to unveiling mysteries.

Prithviraj plays the title role of Adam Joan while Bhavana does the pivotal role of Swetha, Adam's younger brother Unni's (Rahul Madhav) wife. Out of the other notable names in the cast, Narain dons the role of Syriac, Adam's friend; and Lena comes as Daisy, Swetha's colleague. Mishti marks her debut as a leading lady in Malayalam cinema as Amy, Adam's love interest.

Written and directed by debutante Jinu V Abraham, Adam Joan easily falls into the dark thriller genre with the help of its ominous locations and mystique background score. The story has many interesting levels to it, but the screenplay is not airtight and falls short to maintain a firm grip throughout the movie. Had the makers worked more on the screenplay by arranging it in a manner that struck the audience with a surprise in every step, the movie would have been an done thriller. However, the movie is easily one of the most stylish films ever made in Malayalam.

Prithviraj as the leading performer of the movie continues to display his swiftness in portraying a serious role. He pulls off strong punch lines and delicate emotional murmurs with ease. Bhavana, Narain, Lena and Rahul Madhav do justice to their roles and give good supporting performances. Mishti has done a decent job on her debut, but her makeup seemed a little too much in few scenes.

The cinematography is that part of Adam Joan which makes it special. The spectacular beauty of Scotland, the enchanting misty mountains of Kerala and the darkness of the unknown castles have been successfully captured onto the silver screen by Jithu Damodar. The music and background score of Adam plays a vital role in making it a thriller. Deepak Dev has made a very stylish score and mixed it with some heart warming melodies.
