Singer Srinivas was among the first celebrities to come in support of Blue Sattai Maaran's controversial Vivegam review. Srinivas later deleted his Facebook post, so we got in touch with the master singer to know his thoughts on his burning issue. Check out his honest and bold answers:

1. Are you overwhelmed with the negative responses which you have been getting after your statement on Tamil Talkies Maaran?

A: "No, People reacted positively mostly. But fan behavior is irrational which is understandable. I also patiently explained to them that this is a free country and everyone has a fundamental right."

2. A review is fine but does making personal abuse on an actor/ director is justified?

"I didn't know about the personal abuse angle till one fan pointed it out to me. Personal abuse is bad, but these fans are guilty of that. Twitter is the 'saakadai' of abuses (laughs). So I guess they deserve each other"

3. Did you face the heat from your own film fraternity for supporting Maarans review?

"The film industry doesn't take me seriously anyway. But the rights of a citizen is more important than belonging to a club."

4. Basically, does anyone need to be qualified to review a movie/ music or any art form for that matter?

"You have to be creative I guess. If you are qualified it may be better, sometimes worse; goes for every profession. Ultimately if you are followed by people and liked then, there is no greater qualification than that."

5. How have you taken criticisms on your delivered work? Does it personally anger you if someone has negatively reviewed your work?

"When you are in the public glare criticism will happen. You will receive both bouquets and brickbats. Be prepared for that."

6. Finally, why do people take you statement so serious and show an erratic behavior on social media, what you want to say to put it to rest for good?

"Reactions on social media is always knee jerk. And it stays for just 3 days. It is like a virus, so don't pay too much attention to it."

7. Why did you delete that post on Fb was it due to any pressure from someone/ some group?

"My post was about the fundamental right of someone to review a film. But when Ajith fans sent me an audio clip where Mr. Maran is heard using filthy language I felt that is too bad. So didn't want my post to be interpreted in a wrong fashion that I support abuse.

If people threaten me I won't budge, if people reason it out then I will surely do it. After all, I admire Ajith or Vijay for that matter. I also wish to clarify that I am not against Ajith or Ajith fans.

Finally, all I have to say is that anyone has a fundamental right to review a film which is out to the public, BUT HE HAS NO RIGHT TO ABUSE ANYONE PERSONALLY. I didn't know about the abuse angle till someone pointed it out."
