Akshay Kumar was announced Best Actor Male in 64th National Award yesterday (7th April 2017) for his film Rustom. Appreciations poured in social media applauding the star for his award. A few even presumed Akshay Kumar won Best Actor for Airlift and not Rustom.

 

In midst of such confusion finally, Priyadarshan, Jury head of National Awards made an official announcement. He said, “Akshay has won the Best Actor award for both Airlift and Rustom. For some technical reasons, only Rustom is mentioned in the list of awardees. But Akshay Kumar has given contrasting and extremely sensitive performances in both Airlift and Rustom, and we thought it was only fair to honour him for both.” He also said, during the felicitation both the movie names will be announced.

 

Now, this is a double treat for all Akshay Kumar fans, it is not too often that we witness a star winning a National Award for two films. This is surely an achievement to cherish, and also puts an end to the confusion and Akshay Kumar has won Best Actor National Award for Rustom and Airlift.
