Actor Soubin Shahir who started his career by assisting director Siddique in the 2003 Mammootty movie Chronic Bachelor, is known for his role in the Mega hit film Premam. He plays the PT sir who accompanies Vinay Fortt's character (Vimal sir) in the film.

Recently, Soubin revealed that he was actually supposed to play another character in the film, one that required him to do teaching scenes. He jokingly said that he found it very difficult to memorize all the dialogues as he was never good in studies, and thus asked Alphonse Puthren if he could do the PT sir instead. Alphonse immediately said OK and that's how Soubin got the role, four days before the shoot.

Soubin Shahir has assisted many veteran directors like Fazil, Siddique, Rafi-Mecartin, Santhosh Sivan, Rajeev Ravi and Amal Neerad. Even though he had done a small role in Fahadh Fazil's debut film 'Kayyethum Doorath', Soubin's first notable performance was in Rajeev Ravi's Andrea-Fahadh film Annayum Rasoolum. He is all set to debut as a director through the film 'Parava' which is produced by Anwar Rasheed.
