After becoming the first ever South Indian film to introduce an emoji, now Mersal has one more proud honour to their credit. The makers of Mersal, have officially trademarked the film's title, which is happening for the first time in the South Indian film industry.

We got in touch with Hema Rukmani, of Thenandal Studios, to get a clarity on this, who said, "Usually, people trademark their companies, but for the first time, we have trademarked for a film's title. We do not want any third party to make any money using Mersal's name, they shouldn't use it for any commercial purpose. It is our product and the name shouldn't be misused. However, we love Vijay fans, and they can continue to showcase their talent through the fanmade designs. Those are always encouraged.

Mersal is the first ever South Indian film to have been trademarked. This is our first association with Vijay sir, and we want to make the project more special, and this is out of the sheer respect for him, we have
done this."
