A new organization for women welfare has been formed in the Malayalam cine industry. The organization titled 'Woman Collective in Cinema' was formed after the successful coordination of a core committee comprising of fifteen members including Manju Warrier, Beena Paul, Parvathy Thiruvoth, Vidhu Vincent, Rima Kallingal, Remya Nambeesan, Sayanora, Geethu Mohandas, Padmapriya, Bhavana and Sajitha Madathil.


Female artists and technicians from Malayalam cinema are the first in India to unite and form a Women's organization in the film industry. The members of the core committee met with the Chief Minister of Kerala and discussed about the security concerns of women who work in cinema. The members made it clear that the organization is not an alternate of 'Association of Malayalam Movie Artists' (AMMA), but one formed to ensure the safety of women in Malayalam Cinema. The discussions for an organization like this had begun after the dreadful incident that happened to Bhavana while she was traveling alone from a film set to Kochi.
