After working as an assistant director to various directors for four years, Akshara Haasan made her acting debut in the Dhanush and Amitabh Bachchan starrer, Shamitabh in 2015. Soon after which, she acted in yet another Bollywood film, Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laaddoo Deewanaa. Now, she is all excited and geared up for her 3rd release, and her first in Tamil, Ajith Kumar's Vivegam. It is very well known that she was initially approached to play the lead in Mani Ratnam's Kadal, which she later turned down.

Recently, in an exclusive interview to Behindwoods, Akshara reveals as to why she turned down the offer to act in Kadal. She said, ''I was training for dance and was applying to a few colleges in Singapore. My focus was on dancing when I got a call from Mani sir for Kadal. I wasn't keen on acting then, and Mani sir understood it very well. I have always been clear since childhood. If I like something, I like it; if I don't also, my parents never said anything. At the same time, they taught me how to say no. If I get a call from Mani sir now, I will most definitely do it.  Fingers crossed!''

Vivegam is scheduled for an August 10th release, and Akshara's role seems to be a suspense-filled one. Let us wait for more updates.
